Turnpike Community Theatre group is open to members of all ages. Rehearsals are held every Thursday at the Turnpike Centre (above Leigh Library) from 8.00pm-10.00pm
The aim of Turnpike Community Theatre, since its formation in 1984, is to foster interest, participation and study of the arts particularly making the arts more accessible and relevant to the community living in Leigh. In doing this, it is their objective to promote, develop and maintain the public's understanding and appreciation of the arts, in particular the dramatic arts. Having an "open-door" policy, Turnpike happily welcome all people to join the group and also welcome and encourage people with disabilities.
As stated above, Adult Turnpike was established in 1984 with their first production of ‘Twice Around the Turnpike.’ Since then, Turnpike’s audience has grown along with its cast which has gone from strength to strength. Adult Turnpike perform two plays annually, one in the summer and one leading up to Christmas. The group are well known for their much loved, light-hearted and hilarious Christmas pantomime which is sure to get anyone in the mood for the festive period.
The Adult group is open to adults aged 16+ (who have left compulsory full time education) and welcomes the Junior group to participate in the chorus roles in many of their productions. The cost of membership is £25.00 per production.

Junior Turnpike was established in 1998 when the group performed "The Wacky Weather Show" with a large cast of children. Following this, the number of members increased with the group offering drama opportunities to children from the local community.
