Panto Closed To Rave Reviews!

Turnpike Community Theatre's production of Puss In Boots closed to rave reviews at the weekend after four sell out performances at the Turnpike Gallery in Leigh.

Earlier this year, Turnpike were forced to find a new home after the closure of Twelve Apostles Parish Hall in Westleigh. It seemed fitting that they moved to the Turnpike Gallery which shares the same name as the group. Despite a move, ticket sales were greater than ever and audience members commented on the success of the move and the theatre space that the they created in the Gallery space.

The productions director commented, "It was amazing to see a theatre space created right in the centre of our town and within its creative hub. The audiences were bigger than ever and they loved the venue and the production. It was great to hear so many people having a good time night after night and whilst it's always sad when a show comes to the end, the feedback we have got just goes to show why we put so much work in to what we do."

The performances had sold out prior to opening night and due to the demand for tickets, the group had to release additional restricted view seats. These tickets were sold within a day of being released for online sales. The group are considering additional performances for next year to meet demand and to build on their success.

After the performances audiences took to Twitter and Facebook leaving reviews of the show. The group received numerous five star ratings. Comments from local audience members included:

"Absolutely funny and fantastic. Same time next year guys".

"Great performance tonight! The boys loved it!! I'm sure there will be some sore throats in the morning after all the shouting - He's behind you!"

"Had a great evening watching your fab Panto. Seeing the children's faces booing the baddie and cheering the goodies...priceless. Well done to all involved."

All the reviews can be seen on Twitter and Facebook and the official critics review will be published on the groups website when it is received. Turnpike will announce their productions for 2016 online in January to what appears to be an eagerly awaiting audience.

In one of her first engagements, Miss Wigan has been visiting Turnpike Community Theatre this week in support of their forthcoming production of Puss In Boots.

Charlotte Rowe was crowned Miss Wigan at the recent final at the Britannia Hotel in Standish. It’s amazing to be a patron of the group in my year as Miss Wigan. From what I have seen of the panto rehearsals it promises to be a great show for all the family. I will definitely be there on opening night!”

Vice-Chair and Director Neil G said, “The support that Charlotte has given in promoting the group these past few weeks has been amazing. The cast really enjoyed meeting up with Charlotte this week and managed to get some great shots at the photo-shoot.
